Fall Classic Final Game Draws 51 Million Viewers In the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The nail-biting 11-inning clash where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a combined 51 million viewers in the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB stated this marks the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest secured 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – recorded over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game series recorded 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total US average was 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M viewers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and the network’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 various tongues.
